ISME Annual Conference 2025 Conference Theme: "Military Ethics and Moral Injury: Challenges and Opportunities" Conference dates: June 18-20 (or 21, to participate in Adventure Day), 2025. Registration Deadline: 15 May, 2025.
Wednesday June 18: Evening social 1800 (6 pm)-2100 (9 pm) in Glen Eyrie "Castle Great Hall." Thursday June 19: Conference presentations with evening banquet. Optional afternoon cadet-guided tour of USAF Academy. Friday June 20: Conference presentations concluding by 1500 (3 pm). Optional group no-host dinner in Colorado Springs. Saturday June 21: Optional Adventure Day: group white-water rafting or hiking, led by fellow ISME conference-goers. (One may book additional nights before/after conference at Glen Eyrie's "best available rate," pending availability.)

Register for the conference at the blue button above. The conference registration fee is $185 and includes all food. The lodging at Glen Eyrie is $215/night, for two nights (18 and 19 June.) We encourage conference-goers to lodge at the venue to better facilitate discussion and comity.
CALL FOR PAPERS: ISME is pleased to accept papers focused on "Military Ethics and Moral Injury: Challenges and Opportunities." Possible topics include, but are not limited to:
What "Moral Injury" is, and how it should, or could, be understood by lay and professionals alike
How might spiritual, social, and mental fitness impact moral injury, if at all
How, when, and why moral injury occurs, if it does, and how it may be prevented, if at all
How ought the Profession of Arms engage with moral injury--prevention, reduction, treatment, reconciliation, etc.
How might public policy involve moral injury, descriptively and/or normatively
How might modern cognitive, behavioral, and sociological science aid efforts in defining, treating, and reducing moral injury
Submissions should be sent to Lt Col Kathryn Toms, PhD ([email protected]) no later than 15 March, 2025. Please prepare your submission for blind review and put "ISME 25 Submission" in the email subject line. Submissions will be reviewed by a panel and authors of papers accepted for conference presentation will be notified no later than 15 April. The conference registration deadline is 15 May.
Abstracts are acceptable, although full papers are preferred. Each selected presenter can expect to present for about 20 minutes followed by 15 minutes of audience discussion/Q&A.)
